How often should I visit the dentist?

Most people benefit from a check-up and clean every 6 months. This frequency allows us to catch problems early and keep your teeth and gums healthy. Some patients with gum disease or high cavity risk need more frequent visits (every 3–4 months), while others with excellent oral health might only need annual check-ups. We'll recommend what makes sense for your situation.

What should I do if I have a toothache?

Call us right away. Toothaches don't get better on their own and often indicate an underlying problem like decay or infection. We'll assess the cause and recommend treatment. In the meantime, over-the-counter pain relief can help, but avoid placing aspirin directly on the tooth or gums (it can burn tissue).

Are dental X-rays safe?

Yes. Modern digital X-rays use 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays, and the exposure is minimal — about the same radiation you'd get on a short plane flight. We only take X-rays when clinically necessary to diagnose problems we can't see during a visual examination.

Why do I need professional cleanings if I brush and floss daily?

Even with excellent home care, plaque hardens into tartar (calculus) in hard-to-reach areas, especially below the gumline. Once it's tartar, you can't remove it with brushing — it requires professional instruments. Regular cleanings prevent tartar buildup, reduce gum inflammation, and help you avoid more serious problems like gum disease.

Do you treat nervous or anxious patients?
